We also did peer editing to help assess our own writing itself, as well as engage in the collaborative and social aspects of the writing process. We had to also use a presentation format to explain the same ideas in our paper, which are two different approaches that we should learn to do. Our stance in our writing was developed through our use of appeal. We determined if our journal need the wonder, application, or call to action appeal. I think this assignment helped me realize the different ways the journalists have to approach a topic than a scientist. They have to take into account that their audience may not have been completely well-versed or even too interested in their topic. Thus, journalists have to judge being creative and interesting as well as informative and provide directly useful information. This is in contrast to a journal in which certain concepts are assumed to be understood and generally their readers are interested as well as very informed.
